The soft even breath tells him that Cas is asleep and Dean hopes for what it's worth that it's peaceful enough, that it offers some rest to the worn angel. Once Dean's done with his food - or as much as he feels like eating - he puts the rest in the room's tiny fridge and cleans up, trying to be quiet.

Moving to his own bed again, he sits there and for once Dean is the one watching Cas sleep. He sits there for a long while, lips drawn in a thin line. "I'm sorry," he says quietly, because he is. Sorry that Cas got mixed up in their shit, sorry that this is happening to Cas. Just... sorry.

Running a hand down his face, Dean turns and lays down on the bed, facing the door and tries to go to sleep as well. It doesn't come easy.

He isn't even aware that Cas is already awake and up when he bolts awake, sits upright, a gasp on his lips that ebbs with an intake of breath. He shakes his head and rubs at his eyes. He had thought those dreams would have been long gone. It's been more than a year now and even still he dreams of Hell. Of being torn to shreds day after day after day, the smell of his own rotting flesh filling his nose. It doesn't make him sick anymore, the way it used to in the morning or whenever he'd wake.

Without looking, he reaches for his bag and pulls out his flask, takes a few nips from it, the tosses his down. When he lifts his head and looks over to check for Cas, he goes still at the empty bed, then lifts his gaze to where the angel is in the little kitchenette that could be called anything but.

".. Mornin',"

"Yeah," he grunted out, getting up from the bed and stretching out the kinks that developed overnight before making his way over to the small kitchen.

There was a glass, upside down, that he picked up and rinsed out before filling it with water and gulping it down. "How you feelin' today? Better?"

"Fine, slept just fine," which was a lie, he could still smell the stench of dead, rotting flesh even now.

"Gonna head out to get us some coffee, grab a newspaper and the we can try to figure out if there's anything here to hunt."

It was strange to see Cas so... dressed down like that. Like a normal person. Like a human.

"Yeah, sure, no problem." Setting the glass down, Dean headed over to the bed to tug on his boots, grab his wallet and keys, then head to the door. He paused as he opened it and looked back.

"Want anything while I'm out?"

He stood there for a moment, watching Cas, then nodded, "Okay," and left the motel room. In the car, he sat there for a few moments, then started her up and headed for the nearest diner he could find to get them both coffee and some breakfast sandwiches for them both. If Cas didn't eat his, he'd just toss it in the fridge with the rest of his Chinese and eat it later.

When Dean got back, he tossed his keys onto the table as well as the bags of food, then handed one of the coffee's to Cas before sitting down at the table to dig into his food, though he did leave one bag untouched for now.

"Seen anything we can hunt?" asked Dean between bites of his food.

"Yeah? They have any leads? Any theories? Kids go missing all the time, doesn't mean it's our kinda thing." Which was sad but true, in this day and age. Kids run off all the time.

"Well, we can check it out. If it's not anything we deal with, we'll let the locals take care of it." There was no harm in at least taking a look at the case.

"Sounds good," he says, finishing off one of the breakfast sandwiches he'd bought, taking a couple sips of his coffee. He wondered if there was a connection between the girl who just went missing and the one he read in the paper, who'd disappeared a month ago, the reason he thought there might be a case here in the first place.

"There might be, I dunno. The kidnappings - or them going missing - are a couple weeks apart." Honestly, he's not sure what it is or even if it's their kinda thing. But... he can't ignore kids going missing like that, at least not without making sure it's nothing abnormal.

He looks up from his food and raises a brow, glances at the bag sitting off to the side, untouched. "You sure?" He asks, just to be safe. He doesn't want to think about what it'll mean when Cas does start needing to eat.

So for now, he shrugs and tugs the bag over to him so he can eat the contents of the bag.
